View Full Version : Thoughts on adding a headlight washer?

I used to drive an 01 A4. It comes w/ bumper mounted headlight washer that will popup and squirt windshield washer fluid.

I'm thinking of a way that maybe we can implement this on the Si. Of course, non popup ones. Fixed ones like those on some Volvos and Bummers.

Basically drill a small hole on the bumper to fit the windshield nozzles. Run some rubber tubes inside the bumper and tap into the existing washer fluid delivery system via a T connector.

Could this work?

One of the european EP's comes with headlight washers.

I think the 4-door TDi from Belgium????

So maybe try and source some OEM BDM parts

maybe you don't need it in Cali, but where I'm from especially between november and April(winter) My headlights get hella dirty.

Even If I took my car to the carwash every day it would still be dirty

You Cali guys just don't understand

and you'll understand. W/ snow coming down and all the slush kicked up from the lazy city workers not plowing the streets, the front of the car gets all covered up.

I'm just afraid the jet streams from the regular hood nozzle pump might not be powerful enough to be split into 2 other nozzles to be effective.

Definitely worth a try if I have the time. Just get some T-connectors and run some tubes to the bumper. Duct tape it for the time being and see how it fares going around town and squirting.

I gotta admit... I would love these!

My lights are always covered in road salt during the winter. My PIAAs really lose there effectiveness with dirty lenses.

The thought of drilling the bumper makes me cringe though.

yeah, stupid CA people, they don't even know what it's like to walk through 15ft of snow in the middle of summer with heels and a 327lb back pack with peanut butter smeared all over their faces.
