I'v been saving money for some time now, I have 3,000 . Should I stay in the A3 world or go A2...I've been waiting for a while now and I just don't know what to do with it....It's either all A3 or ....The big A2....Whats your opinion??

I would say wait for the turbo for the A3. You won't be disapointed.:D

What about A2 turbo....that's got to feel good!

um the compression is a bit high
not the best choice for a turbo motor k20a from the type r would need like 98 octane to run dude. and the compression is pushed even further.

go with the A2. dont waste your time with the A3 or k20A. in the end the A2 is the best overall:)

i agree a2 is the way to go especially here in CA, carb sucks

Gas in cali is only 91 octane oxygenated crap. I don't know if you have ever driven a boosted car before, but, with high 9.8/1 compression and that gas + 6psi = KNOCK. Detonation is bad. For a daily driver in california, all motor is the way to go. Get your A2, do some bolt on mods, cams, and maybe a 50 shot. You will be happy with that.

Otherwise, if you can afford to have downtime, and wait for a decent kit with a turbo bigger than a T3, t28, or the gt28... Turbo, pistons, rods, 3" exhaust on an A3, plus some good tuning on an AFC you should be able to pull down some respectable numbers. I wouldn't doubt that they would start with 3xx.

Turbocharged cars are not for the faint of heart. They often involve melted pistons, and broken/bent rods. You guys all talk like 9.8:1 compression is low, but keep in mind that most stock turbocharged cars are running 9:1 or less, my 95 talon TSI AWD comes from the factory at 9.5:1, my 8:1 pistons are on the way.

Honestly, if the fuel system is upgraded properly there shouldn't be knock at 6psi...

Look at the RSX people, the Type-S people are running 7 psi on regular gas no problems...racing gas takes it to 10psi...keep in mind this is on the 11:1 compression ratio of the K20A2!

I'm holding out for HKS's solution since I know they're working on a good fuel setup...so I'm sure in time the K20A3 will be a killer.

Me want: K20A3 turboed with HKS kit when it comes out, balance out the engine, and port polish it, then sleeving, then pistons and rods...then new fuel system for these, then more boost...

Of course that's fantasy world. Real world is more like:

$40 SRI
then hold out with this until:
HKS Kit

lol by then I'm outa cash

IT'S a tough choice...But If I have the money to get an A2 I could probably get an easy 2,500$ for my motor, and put it all in the A2...i/h/e/hondata....easy low 14s...

Depends on how much respect you want in a year or so. Build an A3 - you'll get more respect, if it is fast and built right.

Build an A2, you will are automatically fast, yet still respectable...

Do whatever you want, I personally, would rather build an A3 to be badass, vs an A2 that is fast....

There are a few things you must realize, that right now the A3 might not be as fast as the A2, but take into consideration, past Si engines. Is there not 9-10 second b16's out there? Will the A3 be capable of being a 9-10 second engine? Yes!

I dont know what to do I'm running out of patience. The only turbo out for the EP is the rev hard kit ....turbo=4000..fuel computer=800...install=?????maybe close to 6,000 bucks to get it running right.....I dont have that much money .... this sucks It's either turbo A3 or all motor A2...

just do what modern-perf and port have done. get the A2 with 6-speed tranny-great place to start. When you get $$ down the road u can build on that:)

when i put some major miles on my a3, i plan on doing an a2 swap. then i will go all motor. when i think turbo....i think reliability being shot into the ground. I always see ads b18c1 turbo 281 whp (shows dyno) FOR SALE CHEAP! u know there is something wrong.....look over at EDO's ride on club rsx. holy jeebus...his type s is putting 242 hp to the WHEELS all motor. no nitrous.

i/h/e hondata k20a flash, type r cams.....BUNCH of stuff. type r manifold etc....that engine is wild, one day i will have something like that in my ep. :)

K24/K20a2 hybrid fully built with a T88 ball bearing turbo @ 25psi.

oh wait you said $3G not $30G.

A2 swap...
but i doubt you'll get $2500 "easy" for your A3...

You can't go wrong if you get the A2. But if you saved another 2 or 3g and kept your A3, your options will be greater by summer. I think the A3 has great potential hiding in there somewhere. I feel the same way, they should instantly have 265 whp off the lot. Don't make us wait. Just manufacture the fucking car we want. How hard can it be!!

higher compression, like that of the type-s has less reliability than our cars, go check consumer reports, it got white dot reliability (3 out of 5). plus the type s has that power-robbing pump for their power steering. eps handles better and it takes up less space, plus it doesnt work the engine harder (even though its not much).

in the long run cars that are strung out with high compression ratios dont tend to live long
