Yeah, so yesterday, when I put in my AEM CAI, I see that there is a chunk out of the front passenger side engine mount GONE where the bolt goes through!:( We are taking my broken egg to the dealership today, so they can order whatever parts are needed and GET ER DUN! I will take pics this afternoon if anyone wants to see.

Oh damn that sucks. You should try to get some after market mounts installed.

Thanks for the tip, I may do that, but since it's under warranty and free, rock on, I'll take what they'll give me. It's just the top bracket of the mount, and a 45 minute repair, and still safe to drive.. so it's not THAT bad, just freeekin scary for me, the anal "I Love My SI Girl" :D

If I'm understanding you correctly...the stock rubber mounts are not solid...they are somewhat hollow, to allow some movement of the engine, therefore keeping vibration from being sent to your interior...that's why some people get aftermarket engine mounts to fill the stock ones up...there for keeping the engine from moving back and forth...helping to stop wheel hop...but at the same time create lots of vibration in the interior.

here's pic of an aftermarket engine mount insert...as you can see it fills the rest of what the stock one doesn't

EPHatchgirl, do you have a pic of it?

I will post some pics in the morning, or tomorrow during the day. And I may be mistaken about the part. It looks like something that holds the engine down, instead of supporting it's bottom.... heh heh... yeah, I am a rookie, but how many chicas on here gets under her hood to install shiznet?? (Be nice);) I'll show ya tomorrow. My milage (FYI) is like 8994 or something like that...

i'm at 30k with many many hard launches under my belt, and no motor mount tearing yet.

maybe the mounts tear more easily in cold weather? But even so, i'd be really surprised to hear about motor mounts dying before 60,000 miles. . ..

hahahahahaa! Yeah, it's been a full freakin 31 days and no booty for me in the desert :D
So I see a sig that should hopefully belong to a female, and I jump all over it :p

But anyway, yeah, mounts will tend to look nasty from driving around, even after only 1k miles

After looking over my engine mount, it has the same cut-out.
It doesn't look like a piece broke, it looks like a factory cut to make room for the pin.

Usually when metal breaks it leaves the area with a rough texture. This area on the mount looks like a clean, cut area specifically put there for a reason.

Mine looks the same way. Car has 650 miles on it and there is no evidance that the casting is cracked, looks like it is made that way.
