As of right now, it's about 80% to get the JDM K20A ITR engine. I know it takes 98 octane gas, so I put in 93 octane with 104 octane boost additives on every fill up. Shouldn't that solve the Octane prob?
Also it uses regular powering steering, I will remove that and gain alittle hp, 225hp maybe(flywheel), since our cars use the electric P/S.
Also using the RSX Type-S ECU with hodata's tune flash for that setup seeing almost 220hp to the wheels. Then adding everything I can transfer from my current A3, should push it to 230-240hp to the wheels, maybe. And/Or N2O dry setup (using the orginal JDM ECU), starting with 35shot and working my way up to 100ish shot (maybe more, depending how daring I feel) I should be at/over 300hp to the wheels? What do you all think?

if u have money to brun on every fil up
go for it
to me the extra 1 k on the engine and the 5 bucks per tank is so not worth 20 hp. 1k for 20 hp? why not just cams?

I'm right back where I would start from then, TODA CAM int=$570 ex=$530, then you have to get the valve springs for it which are $400. Another $800ish for the Piston kit to raise the compression up abit. that is over $2000 right there w/ shipping. Not including the labor to install it if you don't know how. $5 extra for every gas fill is about right for a high compression N/A engine.

Hello,

I too am pondering a k20a swap. A friend is in japan right now visiting and found a k20a for me. Is there someway to retard the timing on the k20 to allow it to run on our 92 octane fuel?

Basically my question is...Is it possible to use a k20a engine in our cars with the crappy gas we have WITHOUT adding octane boosters etc...
Can i swap, drop fill at the pump and drive?

I have searched the forum but havn't found anything to satisfy me. Any help is appreciated.

I contacted JDMhondaparts.com when I was looking at this swap and they said that the 92 octane gas here in the U.S. is enough to run the K20A with. I also checked with Hmotorsonline and they said the same. I'm just not sure I see the point of you running nitrous on a K20A motor, especially if you're already worried about not having a high enough octane to handle the compression to begin with. Putting nitrous on that car (you said up to a 100 shot if you feel daring) is like putting $6000 in the toilet and watching it as it goes down. That is just an accident waiting to happen. I think you should go the TODA route if you feel you need more power, without the TODA pistons. The stock compression is already 11.4:1. That should be more then enough. If you start getting higher then that you will definately need race gas just to drive your car normally. Just with a swap you have 60 more HP then the K20A3. Plus bolt ons and TODA cams. That should be plenty. Just my opinion

octane boosters do horrible things to fuel pumps.

I've been using octane boost now for going on 6 months. Even if my fuel pump decieded to take a crap, it would be covered under warranty...

I like to test the limits of engines, yes it maybe costly, but very fun:D

I do believe you were the first to gernade a K20A3 on juice. :o
