AEM V2 installation

ive been reading some posts about the V2. and i have one. and right below the filter is this piece of metal that im guessing is the one of the things that held the stock box in place or something?! well when i installed the intake the filter almost hit that metal... but it doesnt hit it. is there anyway i could remove this though? from pictures ive seen it looks like somebody has removed it somehow. any help guys?! thanks

by the way: im at school so i havent looked at it yet, i can probably figure it out by myself... but are there any problems with removing it or could it mess something up?

If it's what I'm thinking, the instructions tell you to remove it. Just has 3 bolts to undo..
