Loose Steering After Alignment HELP!!!

ok gang, id greatly appreciate the help if anyone could offer some. i went to get an alignment and the steering feels looser than when i started. the problem i think started last alignment i had. It felt loose before but i thought nothing of it because it tightened up but threw the alignment off. So after seeing my mechanic, and him tightening the bushings under the car he sent me for an alignment at a shop he partners with. It was one of the new machines where computer tells you the way to adjust the toe and what not. After getting back the steering felt a lot looser than before.
sorry for the rant, but does anyone have any idea what this could possibly be before i take it back to my mechanic i wanted to see if it was something i could try and do myself.
