After...
Runnin a little short on cash these days but want to keep up the work on the car so here's what I came up with...bought the RSX engine cover and sprayed it gunmetal to match the lights along with the spark plug cover and took off the valve cover and sprayed it red with engine paint.
Let me know what you think:)
Before...
Looks great!

Beautiful work! I'm chicken to take the metal head cover off yet.
Did a good job on that valve cover, looks good.
Thanks! It actually wasnt bad at all...this was the first time ive taken a valve cover off and didnt have any problems taking off or putting it back on. Go for it, IMO it beats buying the real JDM cover for $180. Plus you actually did the work and can be proud of the results.Originally posted by BlasTech

Hey man , thats real good work . I know ur proud of it cuz it looks really good. Couple of questions, where, what, and how much on the paint.?
thanks, I used red engine paint for the valve cover, and gunmetal paint for the enine and spark plug cover. Paint was about $4 a can, used rust proof primer and engine clear coat.Originally posted by SiNi$t3R

Gunmetal was duplicolor
Engine paint was the only brand they had, not sure but its good upto 1200 degrees...
All of the above products were puchased at napa.
Thanks for all of the positive comments. Ive received a few PM's asking about the method I used, so I figured it just be easier to list it here if your interested.
I cleaned the valve cover with 600 grit sand paper then sprayed 3 light coats of primer at 30 minute intervals sanding lightly inbetween coats . I used 3 light coats of the engine paint at 45 min intervals sanding lightly inbetween coats. And applyed 1 coat of clear coat and allowed it to sit for over an hour before reinstalling. The paint suggests to bake the item to help the paint to cure, so after I installed it I ran the engine for about 30 min and checked for oil leaks. As for the engine and spark plug cover I followed the same routine except for the clear coat which was not applied.
Hope this helps, if you have anyother questions feel free to ask.
Phil
SWEET! Excellent work... may have to get brave myself. Have you noticed any change since driving it around?
Is there a specific "torque pressure" bolting the valve cover back on?i think its called torque pressure you know what i mean...
