I don't know by experience, but with a little calculating, I think that they would work with no problem. A 225/40/18 is 25.087 inches in diameter and the stock tire size (195/60/15) is 24.212. But besides the fact that the 18's are .875 inches bigger, the gearing of the car will be taller. Also your speedo will read slower than you are actually traveling. You didn't say if you have lowered the car, but that still should not be a factor in tire clearence. Also make sure the wheels are the right offset. If you want to do some calculating of your own.
