They're not really black. They call it black chrome, but it looks more like a shiny gray, maybe like a lighter gunmetal.

Are JDM headlights really black? i hear alot of people say that the jdm headlights are black but in the picture of the buddy club car up top near the ephatch logo they're clear, that car is right hand drive to, also in supre street the mugen type r's headlights are both clear? so what are the real type R headlights supposed to be?

Yeah if you look closely, you'd notice that the inner shells are tinted a little darker than ours. Look up Type-X's car. He's got the type R lights on his EP.
not really ... they look like this... or at least according to jdmhondaparts.com
I just painted mine gunmetal...ill post pics this weekend when i have access to a camera...if your looking for a color to do yours, id definately recommend it. I also plan on painting my valve cover red and the other two pieces gunmetal to match the lights.
Those are the non-HID lights...the HID JDM lights are darker.Originally posted by Sooky

Are the main purpose of the HID headlights is to make the beam come out more solid? Interested in getting one =)
INFO on HID lighting
Xenon Depot makes a kit for our car.
I know how the lighting works, just want to know the difference in these JDM NON-HID headlights and JDM HID headlights (besides the tint color) that others are selling.

what kinda paint did you use?
I recently visited JDM Honda Parts store and bought some goodies for my EP, but I also bought JDM headlights for my S2000, which they say are non-HID headlights. I was confused about this at first because all S2000's came with HID's, but non-HID headlights just meant that it did not come with the HID ballasts and bulbs. I don't know if it's the same for the EP's, but it could be the case.
