These Icebox threads should be kept in the Rumors forum with all the Type R threads until, like others said, it is actually released. I'm as excited as everyone else about iComptech releasing it but I'm so sick of hearing rumors about it...:'(

I agree that these threads should be kept in the rumor forum because every damn month we see one of these like:

"COMPTECH ICEBOX TO BE RELEASED IN MARCH!"
"COMPTECH ICEBOX TO BE RELEASED IN APRIL!"

This has gone on for enough months...it's getting a little ridiculous if you ask me!

I've completely given up on the Icebox and have decided to go with the INJEN short ram instead.

Yah, I realize the Injen might not add the same power, but it looks like it's a LOT cheaper and IT ACTUALLY EXISTS!

The icebox has yet to prove itself, and when something comes out this late... It's usually underwhelming.

    From: compinfo@comptechusa.com

    "Mike,
It's slated to be released by early or mid May. You can see a 3-D pic. at our website in the "under development" section. Pricing has not been set yet, we should have one by the end of next week. Thanks."

it took them about 4 months to respond to my last e-mail, pretty useless.

Here is the official Email from Comptech.
We plan on releasing the ice box by early or mid May for the new Civic SI. Unfortunately, we don't have an exact price or dyno's set yet, but we're hoping to have it around $300.00. You'll need to check back later for new updates regarding the release of this item, check back at the end of this month or visit our website. Thanks.

All I can say is that the Icebox better have some good gains to justify this long wait and its $300 price tag.

Now before I get myself super psyched up for this release you guys have to answer me this: There will be absolutely no chance of hydrolocking with this thing right? I mean it'll be as safe as a regular short ram?

Hydrolock generally occurs as a result of the filter being emersed in water, or being directly bombarded by spray droplets, something that CAI's that are open to the underbody of the car can be susceptable to. The Icebox keeps the filter high up inside the engine bay, enclosed, with only a length of intake piping taking air from the outside. This should expose the filter to only negligable amounts of direct water droplet contact.
