for those who have stock front struts

what is the diameter of the strut rod?

i'm wanting to order some polyurethane bump stops. If any of you know it'd save me from having to measure myself. :D

    Diameter is. . .

    not known here. ;)

I am interested in where you end up getting the foam bump stops though. I want to jettison my stock rubber ones. I too am in the process of looking for some. I am about to visit my local honda dealer for some accord front foam stops. I believe Honda charages like $30+ for two

    Question

I don't believe it'll work out the same. Becuase the front bump stops sit outside of the dust boot vs. the rears going under the dust boot. I will be playing around with this setup as soon as my 00 Si front bump stops arrive at the Honda dealership ($10 for two). Between now and then I'll try to figure out how this may or may not work.

Uhh, i'm looking to get poly urethane bump stops, not foam.

I want to keep the bumpstops as short as possible while still protecting the strut. Polyurethane is much firmer, and can absorb a lot more impact with a smaller volume of material.

I don't know what those are then. I thought (scary) they were the polyfoamicrocellular bump stops. Do you have a description or pic of em?

    Wink

The Ground Control coilovers that I just bought came with some type of foam bumpstops. I wish I could use the stock dust boot to protect the shaft from debris. I've been thinkin about cutting it to make it fit with the small diameter GC spring.

how much modification do u think would be necessary to use the stock dust boot to protect the shaft from debris with ur GCs?

Im guessing not much modification is going to be needed. They just might need to be cut in half. When the car is on the ground only a small part of the strut shaft is exposed (like 1"- 2").

I think I might use the pink highlighted portion. That might be all thats needed to cover the exposed shaft.

I'm going to the local Autoparts store to see if they carry anything like this:

If those get smashed they will just smash like a spring.

    Cool info

    Thanks peeps!

I got my 2K Si bump stops from the dealer today. The hole for the strut shaft looks very very small vs. the Koni and the stock EP strut shaft. Hmmmm

    Smile Success!

I cut out the highlighted portion of the dust boot and shoved it in the spring. So far so good. I'm not sure how much better it will protect the shaft but I'm sure it will help. It looks like I'm going to be riding on the stock struts for a while :(
