Question Two 10" or One 12"

    200W to work with.
two 10" Alpine type S (100W each) in a band pass Obcon box or
one 12" type R (200W rms) that is this

Which would be best for our trunk?
    Thanks!

what kind of box are you going to put the 1 12 into? is that what the picture is of?

if you go with 2 10s in bandpass....its going to thump real nice...

you do 1 12 in a ported, or sealed box its going to sound good, but may not sound as good as 2 10s in a bandpass box....

IMO i would go with 2 10s in stealth boxes to be fitted to the side of your trunk, so you have space left to put stuff back there...if you dont care about trunk space, go for the 2 10s....

Yes, that is the 12" that Alpine makes fitted with the box.
I have an OBCON sealed and ported box that fits two 10" in it, but it is heavy, and takes up space. Anything custom is too much $$$ as all my future mods nust fall within $5k, so my stereo budget is $2k and it looks like this:
    Head- Alpine 9815
    Amp- Alpine F450 (50w RMS x 4 + 200w x1)
    XM Radio- Alpine
    Door- Alpine typeR 6-1/2" w/ 1" components
rear- Alpine typeR 6-1/2" 2 way
    Subs- well thats the question.
Wiring_ all monster cable low noise shit
    Battery- Optima Yellow top.

I am going for total SQ and Alpine will give me that for a great
price. I know people have there opinions and will sugest other products, but this is what I am going with, so Please only sugest my delema on TWO 10" or ONE 12".
    Thanks to all of you!

    Subs- well thats the question.

IMO i would go with the 12' JLw7 it is so sick, and if you put the right amp/wattage to it, it just SCREAMS soo loud, especially with its 3 1/2 excursion ....

i was going to suggest that one mean 15 inch MTX sub that puts out like 4000 watts max, but you said only 10 or 12s so thats my opinion!

Well the Amp I have selected due to budget and bang for buck, only has 200w RMS for the sub.
The 12" typeR wants 100~300w RMS
The 10" typeS wants I think 50~200w RMS each, so both are with in power requirements perfectley, but which would sound better in our trunk? The OBCON box kicks ass and thumps and bumps great, But I've been told that our hatch trunk will act like a box, so will the 12" be a better solution?

Yes, i would go with the 12, and our hatch does act like a box...it really does send out the bass through the car!

the only way i would go with 1 10 inch sub is if it was like a Eclipse or like the 10 inch JLw6v2.....you will be more happy with 1 12 than 1 10, just think about it for a second...

you can always put more bass coming out of 1 12 than 1 10...so if you dont want alot of bass one day coming out of the 12 just lower your bass eq, but if you want more bass coming out of your 10 than what you have, your shyte out of luck....

if you go the route of 10 inch subs, get @ least 2 of them to sound good....thats my opinion...

Yes, It would be TWO 10" as my box holds two 10".
I am leaning twords the 12" and sound proofing the hell out of the trunk and doors. Probally use spray foam in the rear seat area behind the plastic pieces. Not as crazy as Jdubs tho :D
    Thanks Erik

    This might be an alternative.

    Phoenix gold - OCTANE-R 9.0:5

I know it is a entry level product line, but it is phoenix gold, cannot be wrong. Just come out though, so don't expect any reviews. I'll probably get 4 channel version for my components. later ........... in 2 months. ask Eric why .,.... :)

here is a link for the spec
