Wash, Dry, Clay, Zaino'd my EP on Thursday I can see my reflection! :)
today was my day off, and i decided to detail my car...
it took me 4 hours to wash, wax, and detail it for my b-day weekend...
i'm tired...
i need to find a quicker way to do this

4 hours is nothing. On average, it takes most people on ephatch at least 8 hours. The very first time I detalied my car and I mean detail!! Even the parts no one will ever see, it took me about 10 hours w/ 2 breaks
geeezus.. 10 frickin' hours? i dunno if i would ever spend nearly that much time on cleaning my car...Originally posted by SiR_d1

hmm...that sounds like a waste of time. Its gonna get dirty again anyways Gosh guys!
i recently spent 5 hours on mine and that was just wash & wax.
I'm thinking about paying someone to do it. I'm tired as well and what a waste of a beautiful day to be doing something else. i do like my car but spending 5-10 hrs on it is a little excessive isn't it?
it's a good thing i only do this every 6 months. some guys are doing it every 3-4months?
My last one was 2 hours for the inside and about 6-7 for the wash, clay bar, paint cleaner, polish, and two coats of wax. Then I did all the trim with #40, used crome polish on the tips, and just made sure I had everything looking good. Then it had to rain about 4 hours latter :(. O well at least it looks nice when it beads up.
I washed/waxed and everything because it was the first opportunity I had... Canuck winters suck! It was nice and shiny for a little while but most importantly I got some protectant on it :)
I just washed, deswirled, and waxed yesterday and it took me about 4 hours... Car looks great! Hopefully ill take some pics tommarow and she will still be clean... SO SHINY! Crazy reflections... I really recomend Meguiars yellow wax or wutever, worked great, easy on and off....
Most of you guys have it a little harder than I do when it comes to detailing I see, I used to be a detail specialists for the honda dealer I work at, now im a tech but gf is a detail specialist now so after hours she and I just go to town on my silver EP, it takes us about 2, 3 hours at the outside and man is she shining nice after that!!!
you guys take forever, i washed15min, dryed5min, waxed20min, vacumed10,armorall'ed10minand it only took me about an hourfrom the time i got evertything out till i went back inside my house, its a small car it really isn't that hard to to deatail, and i didn't do a sloppy job if thats what you are thinkin
Last time I did mine it took me over 4 hrs. I'm very picky after the clay bar I go over the car with WD40 and get crap I missed or didn't come off. I only waxed it once. These are the steps I do wash, claybar, WD40, wax. What am I forgeting or should do? Cleaning the rims and tires is a gimmie.
lol man I thought it was just me...it took me like 8 hours...jesus
And the worst thing was that the interior really wasn't detailed very well at all, the floor is disgusting...
Does anybody know how to get out salt from the carpet? Some salty winter water got in and now my carpet looks white there...
I know, if I do a full detail, it takes forever.
Tekdemon, for the floors, I had the same problem. I used some 303 fabric cleaner that I got online from http://www.properautocare.com . It worked super good. Some spots I had to scrub with a carpet brush, but everything came out.
You could also try something called Folex, if you can find it. Supposedly it's available all over, but I haven't found it. It's a carpet cleaner that a lot of pro's use to clean carpets.
