one more pic.
I ended up creating this box, I tried to install it and it fits great. Why did I do this?
1-the filter gets wet in auto car wash
2-I was in MD for 3 days and drove back yesterday, there was rain all the way for 300 miles from MD to CT, I got tired of thinking about water going into my engine.
I think front driver side tire spills water on the intake tube when I make left/right turns since there is a huge open area under and on the right side of the KN filter after removing the lower oem intake box.
Next step is to give this prototype to a local body shop and ask them if they could make this from aluminum or another kind of material, and thn I can paint it and make it look nice.
What do you guys/gals think? Do you like the shape or do you think it needs improvement?

Might as well keep a stock box and cut it up some more:D
Your prototype is so nice, wrap it in tinfoil, hold it together with colored duct tape ;-)
Try to make it from alumunium, it'll look less ghetto:D
looks like it should work ;)
I had a welding shop made the box for me, I painted it with dark gray ceramic engine paint, it fits great, could have been a bit larger but it still covers the filter perfectly, now I won't have to worry about auto car wash and long rainy interstate drives.Originally posted by 02TafWhtSi

btw it is nice to see that my box amused some of you, maybe it doesn't look very fancy or high quality but it's something protective on wet days under the hood that will be seen by noone, more important than that it will simply keep my mind clear after experiencing the filter getting wet two times.
:)
Peace

I can't see the picture.
Would love to critique your work but I don't see any pictures... perhaps you could re-post them?
