    02 si shocks

Does anyone know if Koni has a shock available in the US for our cars? Or if their are any other performance shocks available?

you are a newbie :D yes koni has shocks for our cars, although for the front, you will have to cut the top of the stock strut and replace it with part of the koni.

    what about coilovers?
would I be better of just spending a little bit more money and getting a set of coilovers or is a spring and shock setup going to give me about the same performance?

you'll still need some new shocks eventually with coilovers. It depends on how far you drop it. As for performance, I really can't say if coilovers are better or worse. I've always stayed with a set spring.

TEIN has a multiple setups for the 02 civic including the type flex, ss, and ha's. This is the setup I will go with when the financials calm down a bit:). They are a bit pricey, but if you do not want the full coilover setup Tein also makes lowering springs.. --joe

Has anyone had a set of teins?
What's the quality/performance compared to other brands?

I am very interested in getting the SS model for my si but I am hesitant in spending over $1000 and being out handled by someone with a cheep spring/shock combo.

WU dont worry about being outhandled by someone, The Tein suspension setup is GREAT! of course someone may be better than you BUT for the money and being fully rebuildable, adjustable RIDE HEIGHT not just slamming your car and getting adverse shitty ride quality. This is the way to go when looking for performance! no other can compare! --joe

    BTW:
    Tein suspension
front and rear upper and lower strut bars.
    lower profile tires
and a larger rear sway bar.
Not many cars will be able to compare !!!

VERY TRICK IMO!!! I really want that as an add on for the tein setup! Basically its an on the fly preload/dampining adjustment!! all electronic no need to stop and turn a knob :) LOL --worth the 300 IMO in my book at least IM lazy though --joe

The EDFC only works on the type flex.. I called up three places today to order and they all said that Tein has released their coilover setup yet to the distributers for the EP3...

Go GCs with koni shocks. I did. It's SWEET. Just got'em installed. I have pictures on my camera. They'll be developed in a day or two. I have it at no wheel gap at all in front, and the tire is a half inch in in the back. Although it looks great and feels fine at that height, I think I'll be raising it a bit due to the fact that I really would be upset if I messed up the bottom of my car. But it's reallllly nice. I'll be putting pics up shortly. But yeah, get GCs with konis. Very nice.
