    Whats the widest tire...

... anyones tried putting on their Si/SiR yet? I'd like to go for maximum meat with a 225/45R16, but I'm not sure if its going to rub, hit suspension, etc. I've got the 1.1" Eibach Pro-Kit springs in already.

I'm going to do the same drop. I'm going to get 17's with 45 side profile. Can the Si take 8" wide tires ?
    Thanks

The drop will be more noticeable once they are "broken in"

FYI: on a 17" rim a 205/40/17 tire is closest to same overall height as stock. A 45 series tire is too tall and will affect speedometer reading as well as performance.

But it will help close the gap that is left from a one inch drop and help protect the rim too. Not sure what I'm doing yet

i've seen 19X8.5 on the 2001 civic w/ a drop. so i think 8" wouldnt be a problem for the si.

    Wider contact patch, better traction

I run 225/50/15 kumho race tires on mine, they fit fine. I think you could go wider but you might get some rubbing over bumps, the holes or places that the rear shocks go in flares out toward the bottom like a cone and as the suspension decompresses it is possible for you to rub here, this would not be the tire rubbing either it would be the wheel, not good!

ColinCivicSiR, I take it you're an autocrosser? I'm heading out for my fourth autoX event in my SiR today. Fun Stuff!! Which model of Khumo tire are you racing on? Any suspension modifications?

I want the fattest, low profile tires I can get on the stock wheels. I want them to be pretty wide, but I don't want them to be as "low pro." as DownTheHatch. I think Kumho are the cheapest and best looking. Any opinions?
