had the pleasure of driving a new accord 6 speed for the weekend

my dad works for honda, and he brought home a new 6 speed accord this past weekend for the englishtown meet(which ended up being no meet at all). anyway, all I can say is damn......that thing is fast as hell. you can get to 80 in second. it is easily a mid-low 14 second car, and I wouldn't doubt better times. I think at the end of the year the EP is getting traded in for one. just thought I'd share my little fun with everyone. if anyone is interested in one and they live in NJ come see my dad for a test drive. also, it had the factory body kit/spoiler/fog light package, looked as good as it drove.

he works at burns on 73. yea that car looks good as hell. I would trade mine in now for it, but I'd be losing money, I will wait till the end of the year or so, besides I can't part with the EP.

80 in second on the 6-speed? I don't think so... you can get well into the 60s, but not 80.

also, I would wait another year for them to get the tranny problems sorted out. That's really been the only problem with those cars. Once the tranny issues are addressed it'll be a very nice car even though edmunds review ripped it a new one...

yeah, that's right 80 in second, but oh yeah I forgot that you were sitting in the passenger seat along with me as I was driving. my advice to you is get the fuck back in your POS maxima, shut the hell up, and when you know what the hell your talking about, then you may speak. just a quick question for you...how many new accord 6 speeds have you drivin? oh yeah I bet the answer is zero, cause if you had driven one then you would be able to see that in second you can go damn near 80. so as I said before do us all a favor and shut the hell up. it is not my problem that your car will not reach 80 in any gear, so don't start shit when you don't have a clue what your talking about.

Really, no flames... I just don't understand. Someone explain how the 5-speed at 2.56 gearing can go 39 in first and at 1.55 gearing can go 65 in second but the 6-speed can go 80 geared the way it is? The way I read it the 6-speed shouldn't be able to go 80 until somewhere in 3rd gear.

Inquiring minds want to know...Can you explain how a 5-speed's 2nd gear can only go 65, but a 6-speed's second gear can go to 80mph?

i dont know man, that doesnt seem right. my dad owns one, i drive it almost daily, you can get to about 63 in second and thats about tops. maybe that car was a freak of nature or something b/c stock ones definetly cant do 80 in second.

All I'm asking for is you to defend yourself. Find *ANY* publication that says in second gear it can go 80 (or 'damn near 80' since now you're admitting you really didn't go 80 in second) and I'll give you a cookie :D
