Cool -- I'd think that anything blinking in my field of vision would catch my attention.

But, if you really want something in your line of sight, though, you could put a shift light on top of the dash so that it reflects off the windshield. You could even cut out some lettering so that it projects, "F*ckin' SHIFT already!"

    ;)

Good work, though. Maybe that's why Honda didn't mind leaving the blank spot -- they knew we'd think of many uses (engine starter, bass knob, shift light...).

What kind of shift light is that? One where you could plug
it into the cigarette lighter? Or one where you tap into the
ECU? How much did it cost?

Its a pivot shift light, got it from ebay for about $70. It just plugs into the cig. lighter. theres a control box that i mounted in the storage space in the center console. Very easy install. The light is very bright. the other night i scared myself, forgot the shift light was there, got on it, light starts flashing and i think its the cops.......silly me. Ill probably end up moving it but thought it was a cool lil place for it. Im not sure if the lense comes in any other colors.

I like this idea a lot. I liked the start button idea but I wanted to put it on the other side. But this idea I think is a lot better. I want to see if I can do this light in red though. How much work did you have to the dash to get it to fit?

is it accurate to just plug it into the cigarette lighter?

Theres a lil' knob on the control box.....im guessing it runs off the voltage but you rev it up and turn the switch till the light starts blinking. Its pretty accurate for what it is, im still playing with it and figuring out some things about it, theres a switch you can turn in the back but have no idea what it is. the instructions are in japanese. As far as install, pop out the plug and you will notice a black lip. I just took a sharp razor blade and started shaving it down. I didnt it while watching tv. I shaved it enough that it was a tight squeeze, dont wont to over do it.

Nice install. I think it'll work better if it was installed where the hazard button is. Doesn't your hand block it when you're in first or third gear? Looks amazing anyways.

I have the older version of this shift lamp. It plugs into the cig lighter too and I find it to be pretty accurate. It's adjustable too so you can set it at any RPM.

i was going to put it where the haz. switch went but i didnt feel like cutting the wires to make it longer and trying to figure how the haz. switch would stay on.....held on by two screws. Maybe in the future ill move it. Heres a couple of pics of the control box.....i figure the storage compartment would be a good place for an eq too, once i get a radio.
