    Thumbs up "Ram" Icebox

I modified my splash shield today. This may be good for some kind of intake pressure greater than atmospheric
1 lbs of "boost" at 110MPH:D

This mod may scoop up some things other than fresh air too. I may install some type of screen if it does. I'll have to check the filter chamber regularly to see what I collect.

I know it's not the most attractive mod ;)

    From the front

"Ram" splash shield hangs just low enough for fresh air.

    Side view

I can return the splash shield to it's origianl location if needed by cutting two tie wraps that are fastened to the rear of the Icebox snorkel.

neat idea, I'd be interested to know what kinda intake temps you are getting with that setup. looks like it would pick up some cooler air.

    Unhappy Me too

I don't have anyway of measuring the air temp. I almost broke down and purchased one of those house thermometers with the wired sensor for the outside.

    Any suggestions????

    BTW, thanks for the props.

Have anyone ever consider the Venturi effect ?

Under high speed .. the high speed air flow below the undercarriage will cause a low pressure zone ... Air in the Icebox is relatively higher pressure.

As such, will air get SUCKED out of the Icebox instead ?

i think EP33's might actually be able to get some airflow going the right way. probably so little that it'll be even with what he would have gotten without it. yours is DEFINETLY getting sucked. hehe.

Sorry, I "thought" for my case, the snorkel will push air into the intake pipe, that's why I had the snorkel point towards the front to "scoop" air into the pipe....

On 2nd thought ... look at the attached picture on WRC Rally cars .. they've an opening on top of the car for ventilation (circled in red).. so I assume the air GOES into the car instead of OUT ? (Venturi Effect)

nothing to apologize about... i wasn't ragging on you. but about the WRC cars with roof-scoops, they're SCOOPS. no where to go other than into it. that's why i think EP33's might work. it'd stand a better chance of working if it were more shaped. also, a LOT more air flows over the top of the car than underabout yours tho... put a staw in a cup of water and blow across the top of the straw. it'll suck up some water if you're doing it right... look at the scoop on this 206... it's angled basically perpendicular to the windshield to catch all of the air flowing up it...

So, would you suggest I shape the scoop to point STRAIGHT AHEAD ?

uhh... sure? if i were going to cut apart a new car, that's probably what i'd do... i'm not attacking you or anything. don't take my opinion so seriously. if you like your snorkel, keep it. i was just trying to help out...

    Intake on top vs. bottom

I have been desperately trying to locate a company's website in the UK that sells a carbon fiber intake that has the intake coming from the back of the hood just in front of the winshield wiper. It is a narrow "strip" nothing like a shaker hood or anything real subtle.
