Leave the sticker on, it will never stay on if it is removed. use masking tape, line up the straight edges and take an xacto knife and cut the corners in the raised groove around the perimeter of the i-vtec sticker. make sure the edges are stuck. also the piece that is not over the manifold, little side box, it is left black on the optional cover.

damn i did my spark cover and intake mani cover and i have to say DAMN DAMN they look so nice. i have to add that the aluminum and universal red look so great together. i painted the intake mani aluminum and the extension on it uni red(looks like type-r red) and it looks so hot. the spark cover is aluminum so i matches the valve. i am doin the calipers next weekend in bright red so that is gonna look good too. hope some ppl want to see pics cause next week they will be uploaded...(want to finish the calipers then get like 5 pics) oh ya got to wax car too.

I use a scotchbrite pad for all my prep work. lightly scuff the surface to remove the shine and the paint will stick good. thanks for the thumb tip.

That looks good. I've always wonder what a black valve cover would look like. I might try this, with black. :)

Looks hot! I might do this.

Couple other things you could do, the JDM dipstick is black not orange, and the i-vtec is red not black. If you wanted to go all the way.

the silver is "dupli-color platinum 88-01590" and it is in the touch up paint section at wal-mart. the red is "VHT wrinkle plus coating sp 204 red" and I ordered this from a local speed shop, summit also carries it. and the only way to get the red "i-vtec" is to buy the optional cover and that is about $60 vs. $4 for the platinum paint and live with black "i-vtec". personally I don't care $56 worth about the sticker. thats just me, but $56 buys a lot of beer!:D

ok i really want to do this but i'm scared of removing the valve cover. is it hard to remove/put back on? don't you have to get a new gasket? and is there a chance oil could leak ?
