    Radio Installation

I installed my Kenwood reciever with my install kit out of my 2001 civic ,,, I sanded it down and painted it to match the dash ,,, The wiring harness was the same .. It doesnt fit perfectly but it doesnt look bad It will work until the right kit comes out..

not bad! I think I'm gonna wait for the real deal to come out though - i'd like everything to be as clean as possible - sanding and painting sound messy and not guaranteed to fit or look flush.
    Yours does look nice though

The speakers sound great and the hatch doesnt even rattle at all with my 2 12" woofers. I am going to purchase the right kit when it comes out -- BUT I JUST COULD NOT WAIT......The kit does not fit perfectly and the sanding and painting was easier than it sounds... I bought the sandpaper and paint at autozone. I also called Schose? they make the install kit and told me it would be six weeks before it is released...

Really!? Six Weeks? That sucks... They told me on June 11th that it would be out in 3 weeks and it would ship at that point. Damn!! Another freakin month and a half w/ that shi**y stock cd player!
BTW, how much was the regular civic kit? Did you install it yourself?

Did you use the factory front four speakers or did you replace them? I think they are all only 5 1/4 " i was just wondering how they sounded with a new head unit and the subs. thanks.

I think you can get the 2001 civic kit for about $19 and like I said the painting and sanding was pretty easy.... The stock speakers dont really sound that good at all .. I can tell that they are louder and more clearer than with stock head unit...

That custom install kit looks *Fantastic*!

What color paint did you actually use from Autozone? I can't really tell from the pic, but it seems like it matches perfectly.

What brand/color of spray paint did you use? Is the color difference noticable?

I went to some shop to have my stereo installed and they screwed it up big time. First of all they just stuck the head unit into the hole and left all the gaps around it. Even that wasn't the bad part. They couldn't figure out how to take apart so they tried to pry the original stereo out leaving screwdriver chips on the dash. Then I guess they finally found out there's screws holding the stereo in place.

They said that the chips on the dash were already there and when I disagreed, the friggin guy challenged me to fight him.
And they call themselves audio specialists.

    They
