    ES Insert Mounts

    Hey all...

ok this past weekend, me, esmith13, and EPHATCHGIRL..now BoostGirl...did our ES Insert Engine Mounts...The install sucked cause we did all 3 cars in 1 day...

anywho...a friend wanted me to help him with his...now taking OUT the front mount was the biggest bch in the world ....

well after we got done, we realized that someone wrote a DIY that stated you DONT have to take out the FRONT mount to put the INSERTS in...can anyone confirm this? It will make this next install alot easier for me...

also, you have to rock the engine to put the front mount back in, if i have to take the mount out, which will SUCK ALOT...does any1 know if you can disconnect the header from the downpipe so it makes it easier to rock the engine backwards to slip the mount back in, so i dont have to hammer the mount back into place...

Thanks to any1 that has done this...

and on that note...yes it SUCKED ALOT to do these engine mounts...but it is SOOOO WORTH it, especially for the price of them. If you want more response out of your engine, and alot more...buy these inserts and do the install or have someone help you...

when taking out esmith13s mount, and my mount, the inside of the mount was cracked...This is from prolly racing too hard on the engine...

so it would be a good idea to do this to make sure YOUR mounts arent cracking as well, if you are kinda hard on your whip...

17 for the mount inserts, 15 to overnight them, or 5 for regular mail

to answer some of the questions - you have to remove the mount from the bracket to put the inserts in. You can unbolt the header easily from the downpipe/cat to allow moe room to rock the engine.

when I did mine, I could not get the front mount out of the bracket completely, so I notched the bottom of the left side and wedged it in. the right half went in fine. I could get the mountup on the right, but the left side was still in the bracket pocket a little, necessitating the notching. and yes, it was a bitch.

the mounts go in the spaces in the stock mounts to stiffen them up. it is similar to adding solid motor mounts, but cheaper and not as much NVH as solid mounts. the stock mounts are soft and springy, that is what couses wheel hop. the tires bite, the motor swings back, hits the mounts, the tires break loose, the motor swings forward, and this repeats itself til something breaks or you let off the gas. the mounts help prevent this occurrance.
