I just found out that your US center consoles looks quite different from our european versions. Even the UK center consoles look different from the german versions. Strange world...Originally posted by eurosteez

although it looks really cool, i think our usdm center console has better ergonomics than the euro versions. i think having the headunit that close to the shifter would come into the way when youre in 3rd gear trying to change a cd. i dunno, just my 2 cents. :smilem:Originally posted by sk8flex

i-WERKS: Just curious, but how did you "build-up" the center section of the trim that seperates the HU from the CD compartment?
When I eventually get the rest of my sound system together, I'd like to try that as it does look much better than just the Metra kit alone :)
Thanks!
It's part of the metra kit. I didn't modify that at all. I'll post pics of the process once I get my camera back from my GFOriginally posted by FCobra94

haha, wow its great to see you guys doing this now. I just happened to be looking through the site and saw i werks job and it looks great. good luck to all...
^^ i haven't seen you post in a while. where have you been? how's your ep?
Well here are the pics of the process. first you glue the metra kit onto the dash. Make sure you get all the edges or the vibration of the car will crack the bondo.
With a coarse sand paper, sand the where the kit meets the dash (where the bondo will go).
Fill the gap with bondo. Put more than enough to fill the gap.
I used the plastic filler bondo for this

the bondo will begin to harden after about 5-10 minutes. At this point you use a rasp(i bought one made for body fillers)to shape it.
Wait another 5-10 minutes and you can start to sand it.
When it's smooth you'll probably see some scratches appear. This is where you'd fill it again with bondo and sand when it's hardened.
