    Tires/Wheels question

I got a set of 17" Enkei RF1's im going to put on my 03 si from my old accord, and im gonna have to get new tires. I had some problems with the 205/40/17's I had on them due to little sidewall height (hit anything more than a pothole and you got a bubble in the sidewall). I ended up having to buy about 2 extra tires the 2 years i had them on the car because of this (Yokahama avid h4's) I know that the 215/40/17s are what most people are using on 17's but i was thinkin maybe going 215/45/17, to provide a little more sidewall. However, i dont want the tires looking fat on my sweet rims, or for the thicker tires to give me less gear. What are your thoughts? Thanks guys

215/40 is actually the closest... but they are alot harder to find. i went with 215/45 as well... fills the wheel well perfectly with my pro-kit drop.

215/40/17's are .438" smaller in diameter and 215/45/17's are .408" bigger in diameter. 205/45/17 are as close to stock size than any other 17's, only about .050" bigger in diameter. I'm planning on the same set up as you, I think it's a good combo.

Yeah, I used to go to Discount Tire when I lived in Texas. I've ordered from them a few times, they seem to have the best prices. If you have the chance to go to an actual store, you can actually haggle with them on the prices sometimes.
