No offense, but Protoge 5's are SLOW! My friend with a 1999 Civic DX hatch beat one of those. You would have to have alot of mods done to beat the Si.
p5's run high 17 all day......... haven't lost to one yet......... btw mazda boy mazaspeed's turboed special edition protege only has 10 hp more than our "mini vans" and cost a shit more.
mazda boy is just a slow ass bitch and is showing hate to the si owners because he secretly dreams of driving an si in his little wet dreams before his mom slaps him awake and sends him to school.
ya b4 i got my si i had a 95 accord ex AUTOMATIC and i punked my buddy in his p5... they are pretty slow

The part that you actually sit on just pops right out. It's real simple. The part that your back leans against is a little more tricky.

Is your car modded well? Cuz I think you'll need to do a little more than take out the back seat. I haven't seen any P5's at the track, so I'm not really sure what they do - but most people that have driven them say they don't have any balls.
What does yours do?
$21,000? I paid $16000 for mine. I was actually going to buy a Protege sedan, but I got the civic for $800 more. Also Protege's are highly overrated at the crank. 130 at the crank but about 100 at the wheels, that's just plain sad. If you add CAI, Headers, Exhaust, and cams, you are lucky to see a 10 whp gain. And good luck with the ECU.
