So I got a gift card for bestbuy and I wanted to get some speakers for the rear.
Should I get 2 way or 3 way speakers? I saw some for like 189 bucks and some for like 40 bucks. More money doesn't always equal better...help a brother out.

Damn you....I thought you were asking our opinions on threesomes....:(
As far as the rears are concerned, go for the 2 ways. Ideally, you want all your imaging and most of your highs coming from the front. Three ways (frequency-wise) would probably be way too high in the htz scale for my tastes and would ruin your soundstage....IMO. Save the extra $$ for an incredible set of fronts...

So 60-70 dollar kenwood 2 ways for the rear would work. I listen to alot of hip hop.
3 ways are gimicy. a 2 way coaxial speakershould be able to cover all the frequencies that a 3 way does. the only way a 3 way would sound significantly better is if it had a dedicated crossover, which a $60-200 speaker would not have. if both were the same price, i would pick a high quality 2 way over a usually overpriced 3 way any day!

I know a good set of componets are a little pricey and I don't feel like dropping 200-300 bucks right now. Eventually, I'll probably go Alpine type r's. I still have the factory headunit too.
I'm thinking about putting these in the back for 60 bucks.

Hmmmm......Why not put them up front until you get your "fronts". Then, just swap when you get fronts......Holy crap, that's a whole lotta frontin....

frontstage is definitely more important than rear fill. once you take out your stock front speakers, you'll see what crap they are and will want to replace them immediately. remember though, if youre gonna use a 6.5 in the front, youre gonna have to cut your door.Originally posted by oogy-boogy

5 1/4" 's. You can actually use the stock speaker as a mount. Just cut the insides from it and use the plastic surround as your mounting clip.Originally posted by glw

So the stock speakers in the Ep are 5 1/4's?
without cutting, you can fit 5.25" in the front and 6.5 in the rearOriginally posted by Zero Three Si

I'll probably just put them in the back since it's 20 degrees out. I just want a very quick install. This way I can have the car running with the heat on...lol
stock speaker sizes are 6 1/2 but with out using a bump ring/or cutting in the front you cant fit aftermarket 6 1/2s
