Koni Yellow Help please

What Diameter is supposed to be used on our cars for the front struts? 50 or 55mm.

I have to pick up my Koni Yellows but there are 2 OD(Overal Diameters) for the front struts. 50mm and 55mm. I don't know which one to get.

i rememeber reading something about honda switched strut size somewere in the middle of production of our car. it one of the reason its taking so long to get direct fit after market struts . check with 02silversihb, he knows he did the konis . the problem is something like you might have the 50 and 55 mm one of each one your car, or something like that . check with him he will know

the koni models i used are front 8641-1416 rear 8041-1281

the deal is that Honda changed the diameter of the strut sometime in the middle of the 2002 production run. So early cars will require a diff. shock than others. But if you're 2003-2004 it's not an issue but all Koni w/your vin to be sure.

no! check your stock struts...just take something to measure them. Mine are 50mm...in late 2002 and later on in 2003, honda started switching to 55mm strut bodies like the type s. Koni updated their site last time I checked.
So in short: measure the diameter of the strut....the are surrounded by the spring. you may need to jack the car up and get a tool like this to measure it while the suspension is still installed:

Damn. I'll measure it on the weekend. Thanks for all the input guys. If it becomes to much of a hassle I might just go w/ a Spoon or Mugen setup.

also, I believe if you use the 16mm lower strut bolts, then you know that you have the 55mm OD shocks.

I bought my car in mid 2002, and I've got the 16mm lower strut bolts. I haven't measured the strut diameter, but I believe it's 55 due to the strut bolt diameter.

I'd be reallly surprised if honda mixed the two types on the same car.

buy a set of vernier calipers from sears or home depot, like 10$, very useful to have around. Measure the strut body diameter, not the rod, the actual housing.

and 02silversihb, that picture looks whacked! it looks all out of proportion unless the markings on your caliper aren't for cm. . . in that picture it would seem that your thumb is 5cm wide!

if you read 02silversihb post, he is just showing a picture of the tool to use to measure. not what to measure!!

Hachiman, if you got an 03, you use the same size struts as i do.

I have the 16mm bolts, mine are 50mm....as for the pic, that isn't mine, I just used it from k-series.com
