Thumbs down Tein Basic Owners... Read Me

I emailed Tein about the spring sound heard in my front right coilovers and this is the reply i get.......

    Michael,

Yes, we recently received information that there is a fitment issue with the
BASIC kit for 01+ Civic on the 2002 and 2003 Civic. The simple fix would be
to purchase the 2001 Civic bearing, part number 51726-S5A-004. You would
need to purchase 2 of these, one for the Front Right and the other for the
Front Left. Just use the 2001 Civic Bearing instead of the 02+ bearing, and
install according to the instruction manual.

Please bear with us as it is difficult for us to foresee and monitor
suspension changes in vehicles in which the styling has not changed. i.e.
2001, 2002, and 2003 Civic has not changed in body style.

Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension Products.

    Best regards,
    Sales

hparts.com doesnt show an image of the part
    BUT its only 12.40
    BUT
    X 2 + shipping + install = unacceptable

agreed on the unacceptable part, i'd haggle with the person
you emailed to see if you can't get a free set (be sure to tell
him you've posted this on several message boards).

when would you hear the "spring" sound? i've got the tein SS and
in the past few days i've noticed a clunking/springing sound when
making a right turn (sounds like it's coming from front right, too)
    going only 15mph or less.

    andy,
Be forewarned - i have that sound as well and in my case it's a loose tie rod end bolt on the front right corner... The gap is smaller than a fingernail - but it's there and it's clunking none the less...

WTF? I've had no problems from the fronts...they have been perfect.

The only minor problem was the rear shock dust covers...that need to be trimmed like 1 inch and/or lubed up with some WD-40.

I really like my Tein Basics! :)

I had 2002 bearing with TEIN ss fullcoilovers. No problem at all.

    Type X,

Did you ever order those parts? My "springy" sounds are getting
worse and although I think if I tighten everything up it'll go away
in the short term, I'd like to order some new upper mounts to
see if that is a permanent fix.

Where can I order this stuff from - any Tein dealer or through
    Tein directly?

Ok,let me get this straight...you bought 900 dollar coilovers and now are pissed you have to spend 30+shipping on bearings?Dosent make sense to me but who am i to judge.Thank Honda for the shitty suspension components we recieved with these damn cars....BTW,i have NEVER had a problem with my basics, they are the best purchase ive made for this car.Get the issues straightned out and youll love em,just dont give up and start that"i should got the Mugen" crap;) ;) ;) ;) ;) At least you can alter your ride heighth!!!Let us know how things work out for you...
