shift boot install

im trying to install a shift boot and cant get the interior piece off around the boot ...
please help ...

1. take the shift knob off.
2. pop off the bottom portion of the dash. Slide it up and over the shifter.
3. from the inside of the dash, unscew the screws that are holding the boot on.

That's about it.
