I got some crappy #s today with i/h/e

As the title states crappy numbers for i/h/e setup

    138hp 129tq

The torque was higher than I expected but the horsepower sucks.
This was done in 3rd gear with the silencer in.

just one run or is this the best of a series?

what was the weather like? what kind of dyno?

like you said, the torque numbers sound about right, but i don't know what could have happened with your hp.

Do it in 4th gear. You'll get another 5-10hp

Yeah, do a 4th gear pull. I did a third and was disappointed also.
I don't know how to post a link. But if you want do a search for "Dyno" and look for my username you can check out our conversation on this.

It was just one run. He was getting a quick baseline run.It was done on a DynoJet 248c. And my filter does need some cleaning. The weather was in the 80s, don't know about the humidity though.

Just curious as to whether you reset your ECU after all the mods. Also, were you using hi-test fuel?

I think it was a combination of the filter being very dirty(i looked at it today), and the silencer in. The silencer would plug up some of the flow so that would show why the low horsepower and high torque. The high torque is from all the backpressure. The low horsepower from bad flow.

SiR Medic - i did take the terminals off of the battery every mod. I like to do it when ever I work on it. The gas was 89( we have 87,89,93here), so middle grade.

And by the way this was a free run on the dyno. I did not even know it was going on the dyno that day so she wasn't prepaired correctly. I would like to clean the filter and take the silencer out and see what differences there might be.

Would the 4th gear pull give higher numbers on both HP and TQ? My torque is pretty high now. I wonder how high it will go in fourth.

I don't know if the tanabe has a free-flowing silencer like the skunk2, but when I dyno'd with and without it the numbers went like this. (I/H/E)

    Without: 150 whp 122 wtq

With silencer: (other two runs) ~

    151 whp, 132 wtq
    151 whp, 131 wtq

Wow! Looks like it made more power w/ the silencer IN!

How's the exhaust sound w/ the silencer in? Is it loud? Anyone know how it compares to the Magnaflow (which is the only one I've heard so far)?

Also, what intake and header do you have?

    Thanks! :)

What rpm did you end off at? That has alot to do with the HP number. Peak tq occurs in the 4.5k rpm range and seems normal for your setup.

I doubt there is much wrong and you or whoever ran your car may have not maxed it out.

Edit: BTW I do all my runs in 3rd. 4th gear is not an improvement as some may have you believe and has no bearing with regard to consitancy. If you wanted to you could run in 1st gear and get the same consistancy as long as you are corrected (SAE numbers).

i have the dc shorty header.

all four of my pulls were done in fourth gear.

It is quite a bit quieter with the silencer in. Seems like the best of both worlds.
