    Exclamation Tool for tie-rod seperation?

What tool has everyone used to seperate the tie-rods from the struts on the front suspension. I'm debating installing some springs myself but when I looked up the honda tool it was $120!@@! I know you can use a standard balljoint puller but how does that work without damaging the boot? Thanks for the help

I use the same tool as above, but I don't like how the bolt has a pointed tip. It tends to dig into the ball joint and put more stress on the threads. Here's a tool closer to what Honda uses http://www.mytoolstore.com/toolaid/suspn02.html

Yup, the two posts above are dead on. Don't try it with the one that looks like a fork with only two tines, those just tear up the boot (ask me how I know...)

loosen the nut on the tie rod till it just covers the bottom of the threads and smack the part of the strut that the tie rod goes into with a hammer but don't hit the tie rod works if you don't want to buy a special tool for that
