Tires

I have an 02 Si that was my brother's for a year and I pretty much have it right now. I haven't done anything to it yet because I might not completely get it depending on what college my brother goes to. It has 10k miles and is in great condition. It still has the original tires and they still have a decent amount of tread on them. I dunno what the problem is but in the high rpm ranges of first gear i lose traction and going into second and sometimes third the tires will spin. This is on dry days too, not rainy days. Does this happen to everybody??? Please respond and tell me how you tires are.

Yes, the stock tires suck really bad. If you get the car the first thing I would do is upgrade the tires, if not wheels and tires.
