cleaning off all sealant?

I am just wondering is there a way to get all the sealant off the headlights so when you reinstall it is all fresh? I am just use to constuction where you have to take off all the old to get a good seal. Only problem is that I do not have a puddy knife that is small and dull enough to work on the headlights.

I didnt even bother with cleaning the old sealant off, i just stucke em back in the oven and let it heat up again then introduced the new RTV sealant on top. the assymbly didnt clip together all the way so i sealed the crap out of the edges:D
