I noticed that when I first got the car. Hard to judge your speed when the ride's so smooth and quiet!
I was driving down the parkway today, enjoying the sheer pleasure of snicking thru the gears. However, I found that the engine was so smooth and quiet, it was easy to neglect just how fast I was going.
Before I knew it, I was in 5th gear, hurtling toward some stopped cars up ahead at a red light. I was on them before I knew it. I saw them up ahead, but had no idea how fast I was approaching them.
There was no noise in the cabin to remind me of speed.

??????
My ride seems rough and loud. But then again, im used to my gf's X5.
Exactly - especially on smooth, paved highways - 80 feels like 50! Its cool but it gets me nervous everytime I look down at the speedo - ANY tickets on my record would make my already highest insurance profile IN THE COUNTRY (single, under 25 male in New Jersey) skyrocket so I'm always extra cautious.
It's smooth....but I duno about quiet.
