    painting stock wheels

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I'm a Newbie and that's what we do - post in the wrong place!

Anyway, I've seen some stock wheels on here painted with Duplicolor (sp?) and they look very cool IMO, but I have some questions.

    1) Assuming I follow the directions to a "T", will the paint chip/scratch more easily than the factory finish?

    2) (Pardon the ignorance here) Will I have to remove the tires from the wheels first or simply tape the tires prior to painting?

I like the Gunmetal color of some painted stockies I've seen, but I don't want to do it wrong and regret it.
