F*ck that, I would make them give you a new tranny. Cause I have 02 and the case still looks new.
I'm not sure what this piece is called but here is my story. I decided to change my tranny oil, I used the Honda MTF. I have an sir manual so I checked the bolt torques, everything went well.
While I was under my car I noticed several cracks running through the transmission housing. I got some degreaser, cleaned everything off, and holy shit! I had a large crack which started at the drain plug and seemed to spider through out the cover. Nothing was leaking, but the crack was large enough to stick my finger nail into.
I called my Honda mechanic friend and he said "most likely it's casting marks".
I don't know, it seemed like a large crack to me anyways, he is looking at it today. I'll update you guys.
* Maybe its worth a look under everyone' car, just to be sure.

I just got a brand new updated tranny under warrentyOriginally Posted by Peking
I would tend to agree that they're casting marks. They're all over my tranny and don't seem to follow any sort of pattern. With all the "cracks" in my tranny, it should have failed (exploded) about 30,000 miles ago. Of course, I'm out of warranty so I have to be optimistic.
how'd ya do it and what was wrong with the old one?Originally Posted by element2050
if they don't replace your housing...i hear you can fix it by welding the crack shut
My mechanic told me today it was casting marks. He is a friend of mine so dealer honestly isn't an issue. I guess everything will be fine.
