tire and rim size

I'm looking to buy new rims and tires for my Si. Can going from the stock to somthing different cause any problems? My friend told me that I would have to have it calibrated so my speed would read correctly. I just thought if the new set came out to the same size there shouldn't be a problem.

If you stay in the same Diameter as the stock you should be fine..... like if your stock wheel is 15" with a tire of 185/60/r15 then you can go to a 17" with a tire of 205/45/r17 And sill be in the same DIA as stock.........the wheel gets bigger but the tire side wall gets smaller..........(i used those's #s as and example they are not correct.) any local tire shop (knowledgable enough) can set you up right........and not have to" calibrate " your car
