Update:
Well today is the day i officially pick up and register my 1996 GMC Suburban tow/winter vehicle. And already it'll be getting put to the test. Tomorrow i make an 800 mile round trip adventure to southern Illinois to pick up my spare K20a3 motor, along with a K24a4 a buddy picked up as well.
As many of you know, i put my automobiles through rigorous testing!
The K20a3 will more than likely be torn apart over the winter. My buddy sold it to me for $100 picked up because i helped him sell the K24. I am trying to figure out what my goals are with this motor..... I spent the whole night wondering what type of build i want to go with. And i have come down to these three build choices:
1.) K20a Factory Overbore Pistons, K20a2 Oil Pump, K20a2 Crankshaft, K20a2 Rods, K20z1 Head Swap.
2.) Factory Overbore K20a3 Pistons and a Kraftwerks Supercharger.
3.) Factory Overbore K20a2 Pistons Rods and Oil Pump, K24a1 Head Swap (Same VTEC engagement as the a3 but flows 10x better.), Brian Crower Stage 2 or 3 Cams and Valvesprings.
Like i said i am unsure as to which route i will go. However my horsepower goal is 200-250WHP. With the Kraftwerks i will have the possibility to run up to 300WHP.
Well i just put my new Suburban through a hell of a test right off the bat! 900 mile round trip, and it did it like a CHAMP! Also found out that it holds a pallet with two k-series motors in the back!
Say hello to my bright ass orange valve cover and new Mugen oil cap!
Yeah that's our "That 70s Couch" and the "AL" collection from Tool Time! You can order them from JC Pennies!
New pics that were just taken. Got bored so i tried to get some good ones at the local mall.
Update:
I have started to stock pile up engine parts for the motor build on my spare a3. Just sent payment on a K24a1 head. Next on the list is a K20a2/z1 crankshaft. Other than that i am still not sure as to what i want to run for pistons and rods. I was thinking K20z1 pistons for their 11.1:1 compression ratio.
Now i need to find out what compression these will put my motor at with the K24a1 head on. I know it'll be lower than 11.1:1 due to the larger combustion chamber of the K24a1 head.
Suburbans are fucking awesome. That and the Corvette are the only GM products I would ever consider owning.
The orange valve cover is super badass man.
Thanks i know how you feel except you would have to add one more GM to your collection. I hate to say it but the new 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS is a bad ass car!
The valve cover needs to get redone. While wetsanding it, i went to rinse it off in the shower it slipped and cracked the paint.... So it's going to get redone sometime soon.
Well here is the old thread that magically disappeared 2 years ago....... Well there has been a lot of updates since then. So i'll probably end up making a new thread.
