Do you guys think putting some air freshener in there will damage the new filters?

Just as easy as doing your intake filter.

    1...2..3.YOUR DONE!

I actually didn't get new ones but I cleaned the old ones best as I could.

So are both filters located on the glove compartment side of the car?

I suggest adding a thin sheet of carbon filter to the cabin filter as well http://www.amazon.com/Holmes-HAPF60-.../dp/B000063SKE

reason why its good is it because it filters out odors as well as small particles. I use it for my air filter in my room and it works great. When i change my cabin filters ill be using a carbon filter as well.

thanks for the awesome write up!

LMAO WOW!!! What a coincidence I just looked at mine today to see how bad they are. Yours are ridiculous! Mine aren't nearly as bad, but need to replace anyways.

We should start a contest for weirdest things found in your filter. I had feathers, leaves and a june bug.

Ha, that's nothing. Until a month ago or so, I didn't know that there were two filters in there side-by-side. I hadn't changed the one further in the dash since it was new in 2002...

They are side by side. First the left one pulls out, then you slide the second filter into the space where the first one came from. Then it pulls out just like the first.

I sprayed my filters with Endust before I installed them. It's a cheap way to make them grab the microscopic bits better. Works with home HVAC filters too.

Are these things washable? I'm really thinking about it instead of spending another 20$ every time I replace these.
