I had an 03 SI with red inserts, but they were in it when I got it. The front and rear both had them. It looks great. Just call a local uphostery shop.

you can get real RECARO fabric from capitalseating but its very expensive.

for 1 yard of red recaro velour fabric costed me $135 shipped from the uk, to repair my recaro seat.

I bought 2002 type R seat covers from the UK and I am planning to put the red in the middle fronts and backs. I am probably going to buy the official red material from a guy over at clubrsx.

In the photo the fabric on the left is garbindine from Joan fabrics for 5.99 a yard I dont now how well it would work on seats but it was really cheap it works good on the door panels.

the fabric on the right is the official recaro material from the guy from clubrsx sounded like it would be 150ish for the fronts and door panels. yea not cheap huh the stuff in the middle is the jdm panel for color and texture reference. wayne at ssr sells the official material for $90 a yard
I found nice recaro material for seats from Showstoppers for $120 I got a roll of material 5 feet wide by 15 feet long its doesnt have the texture of the official stuff but it is really nice I think it might be used in the brand new type R's but I am not sure of that. So I am trying to decide if I should go with the official stuff or use the material from Showstoppers.

What do you guys think? the guys user name over at clubrsx is pwrsx04

Tough choice. Whats the cushiness of the showstoppers fabric? Does it have the spongey feel of the recaro fabric?

Id imgine for seats you'd want the cushier fabric, but for door panels the thinner stuff.

Hey I think you were one of the guys who was involved with the other thread of door panel inserts, right?

The showstopper fabric is nice and cushy same thickness as the recaro. I know this is petty but its not official and for some reason I can't let it go.... I will fuss over it for another week and realize I don't have a type R and just use the showstopper material that I already paid 120 bucks for. Did I mention its 15 feet long I need a new headliner in my 94 dx poor old beast will look insane.

thats me! I didnt change my name, just the avi.

I really liked the recaro fabric, but its really expensive. Though Darrel would be able to hook anyone up with enough... its $$$

15 ft of stuff for $120 is a damn good deal. If its just as cushy, then the only difference I can see in pics is the amount of black showing through right?

I love the CTR look, but Im not willing to pay thousands just to make my car look stock. Carpets from custom interiors.com, DIY Door panels and seat reupholstering FTW. Until you got the showstoppers stuff though, I didnt know of a fabric that matched the official recaro stuff in quality and texture. I assumed it'd be the one place where I had to "pay for authenticity."

Good find. With the lost DB, nows a great time to get a DIY together

The showstopper material is recaro fabric same thickness as the seat material on the Si seats its really nice stuff. If you dont want to spend more than 200-300 I would buy the Showstopper material for about $120 you have way more material than you will need buy it with a buddy and split it in half.

I will post up some pics I am not sure if I will be able to do the sewing myself so I think I am going to check in with a upholstery place for prices. I will keep you all updated.
