    Rockford 600w amp
    Kenwood KDC-X679 headunit

This is all the sound I need & it's pretty light too.

It was an afterthought, I first had a sealed enclosure then I wanted to try vented but did not want to take up internal volume, So I did what any other rednek would do that knew the box was going to end up as an owl-house in the barn, did external venting

(and yes, there is currently an owl living in the box)

I was just experimenting to get what I wanted and be damn sure of it so I did not spend the time building the current enclosure (and it took some time) and end up hating it. Acoustically, external vents are acceptable, visually... nope

Clean the owl shit out and it's as good as new

    Edit:

Once I chased the owl out off to get the bananna jacks off if it for another project and the damn owl sat right outside the shop door and waited for me to bring it back out. It was so damn cool I gave her some extra polyfill.

    I gotcha!

If you have the blueprints for your shelf, would you mind sharing them? Id like to build something similar if for anything, keeping tools and other items tucked away.

It actually just sits on top of the sub enclosure:

That sits in the spare tire via a fiberglassed tub:

And has piano hinges recessed into the beauty panel and bondo'd over to flush them.

Sorry the only had cell phone pics. Car is dirty, and needs to be cleaned. But dash, door handle inserts and power lock switch are all color matched NHBP. There in the rear under the cover is also a 1/3 octive processor, 5 farad cap. spair battery, The crossovers for the dimond D97.1 components. Also have a larger than stock Stinger battery under the hood and 2 runs of 0 gauge to the rear of the car.

How is the Kenwood? I'm looking at either the alpine or eclipse version of their double-din touch screen. Now i'm not going to lie, i did take a glimpse at the kenwood online. However a few years back my buddy had a basic kenwood HU. It seemed really shitty nd at nite it wasnt that brightly lit. Granted he was 2nd owner of the HU (not the car but HU) it just really made a bad impression on me thats lasting forever....as of now, maybe??

Thanks, Yes I do, but I usually don't use it. Just put the groceries/stuff in the back seat. Usually only us the cover when I go on trips, It seriously degrades the sound.

What in the hell are you covering it with?

I'm using unbacked carpet over expanded steel and it does not sound or measure any different.
