Leave it Stock
Build it! with OEM available parts
Build it! with After Market parts
So my goal is the Honda big block, k24 block + a2/z1/3 head and IPS cams.
I got some time to start saving for the parts, but Im interested to hear what member's opinions are about whether I should go full build (and whether I should go OEM or After market) or go w/ stock.
I want a reliable DD, with spirited driving. I might go FI via supercharger down the road but the purpose for now is NA.
My goal is in the 225-250 WHP range.
Im also considering going a staged build. I want to start with a k24a1 swap w/ cams right off the bat, but I was thinking of selling my a3 block and buying a k24a4 bareblock to start building whilst I enjoy the 2.4 in my egg.
Labor will all be done by me, and Im not experienced with building so Ill be taking my time with the block in my garage and the helms manual glued to my hand.
Will update with parts recommendations as the list grows. And I hope this is a good starting point for people looking to do similar things.

I'd say go with the oem combo. It wont put any extra stress on the tct and it will still work with the cams. I'm talking head only here...I vote to build that block sir
I'd say go with some tsx rods and micropolished crank with some mild 10:1 or 10.5:1 cr pistons. I don't have a brand rec. I don't think it is as important to have forged rods as it is the pistons since you wont have the oil squirters.
There are many K24A1's that have been rebuilt with stock TSX parts and are running fine.
but if it was my build, it would still use the same parts as I am going with on my present K24 build, Blueprint UltraLite rods and Wiseco pistons.

I'm on 100% oem parts k20/k24 engine making 220whp and 175wtq w/ the crap EP specific DCRH and only 60mm exhaust, also stock mani and TB.
I have RBC ready to go w/ 65mm TB and hopefully hytech header / 70mm exhaust coming mid summer. I'd like to think I'll be making near 240whp and 180's wtq. With OEM reliability on pump that's pretty hard to beat, as specially since I DD my car.
I voted for aftermarket build, might as well go all out and do it right the first time.
You should decide if you want to stay NA or go FI and base your pistons off of that. Seems like a waste if you go for the middleground, you won't be getting the best of whatever path you decide.
If your staying n/a I dont see how you could go wrong using the tsx rods with some 11:1 wiseco's. Factory reliability with just a touch of insurance
Oh yeah, I dont know if ShadowMd has his build posted again but he laid down some solid numbers with the a2 head/z3 cam combo
He has the a2 head with tsx internals or he wouldn't be able to pull those numbers with those mods.
Thats what I'm saying holmes:thumb: Gotta atleast have forged pistons for the lack of oil squirters...Its just simple insurance. Leave the valvetrain as an oem combo though...definately.
daily driver?..
I'm still debating if i should pick up some cheap stage 1 cams just for a little extra push over stock type s cams.
