Then you are potentially loosing power. Mine saw 8500 on a pretty regular basis and was fine until it ate a foreign object. It was still fine except for the damage done to the piston and combustion chamber done by the foreign object. No excess wear to the rods or bearings.
you need to upgrade! i'm on the same boat. i just finished putting cams on the car but the dc race header and the spoon midpipe + axle back are going to hold me back.
i'm going to save up for an ssr or hytech race header and getting a custom 3 inch exhaust made of aluminum.
Ah, that I understand. If it won't make power then you're right, no point in spinning it up that high.
I don't know if I agree. I have a 3" and while it does make power it is so damn loud it drives me crazy. Also it hangs down low enough that clearance is an issue too. My car is a track bitch only pretty much so I can live with that, but I would not bother with it on a daily driver.
what would be the best head swap for my A3 block with some mods
did you port and polish your head? I heard that it might be necessary to do so to support higher compression, meaning that you need it to see some gains with the high compression pistons.
