I really hope that you used chromoly, and then TIG welded it. Otherwise thats just a bunch of weight.

because the welds will be weaker than the chassis was before the rollcage was even installed.
So basically its a bunch of bars that will just seperate from eachother in the event of impact or a roll.

*thats kid of an illusion because of the angle of the pic, i can still get to the pump.

Yes the cage was mig welded and no i did not use chromoly because it was more expensive than mild steel and not worth the extra money. But yes when you do use chromoly it is supposed to be tig welded. Chromoly is not necessarily stronger but its the fact that its stronger and therefore a thinner wall thickness chromoly bar = a thicker wall mild steel bar.

I have built another cage in an older civic that was involved in a side collision and the welds held up fine.

yea the paint all came off, luckilly it was just dusty and pretty much just wiped right off.

As far as specs on the cage:
    S&W Race Cars
    Mild Steel
    1-3/4" tube
custom measure by myself and friends (since they dont pre-make a cage for the EP chassis)

its basically a standard 8 point design with a rear diagonal and an x. Just looked at other cages i liked and went off that.
