and some more after paint....
thought id post up some pics of my custom roll cage install.
ENJOY!!
I really hope that you used chromoly, and then TIG welded it. Otherwise thats just a bunch of weight.
thats bad ass man, nice to see other fabricators at work, keep it up!
because the welds will be weaker than the chassis was before the rollcage was even installed.
So basically its a bunch of bars that will just seperate from eachother in the event of impact or a roll.
Very good job, now hope it's as funtional as it looks.
now your nuts I thought I was crazy. I hopw you pre fit all those bars 1st so everything goes right back in, also good luck changing the fuel filter/pump. nice dedication and will to get it done.
*thats kid of an illusion because of the angle of the pic, i can still get to the pump.
Yes the cage was mig welded and no i did not use chromoly because it was more expensive than mild steel and not worth the extra money. But yes when you do use chromoly it is supposed to be tig welded. Chromoly is not necessarily stronger but its the fact that its stronger and therefore a thinner wall thickness chromoly bar = a thicker wall mild steel bar.
I have built another cage in an older civic that was involved in a side collision and the welds held up fine.
nice setup!! how far from the fuel pump cover does it sit?? looks mighty close might be a hastle to work on it later if needed.
thats tight... did u follow another design or did u make up that design??
