    cool

good writeup, that board would serve as a good base to make a nice custom hatch enclosure.

but u must be concerned about weight. how much does that piece of wood weigh in itself?

It's very light. I used 1/2" plywood. It's pretty negligible when you consider the weight of the amps and sub. It probably weighs the same as some people's cd cases.

Great work, I am sure you are much happier with an audio system and liner that stays put when driving.

Great idea for the red box! I might do the same... mine's looking a little dreary and worn out.

Looking back, I think that IF you have the time and the will, putting piano hinges in the corners rather than just using the carpet would be sweet. Check out Chads stereo install for a really sweet trunk! http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44046

It's from a stereo shop in the city I live in. They do a lot of custom work, and are pretty big in car audio.

This may help you; here's the manufacturer's website:

Updated the links for the pics, if anyone was looking for them.
As far as an update on the carpet, it still looks great and is standing up. Ultimately, though, I want to secure my sub much better or even build it into the trunk.

I just did this to my ep but i used black carpets. Looks a lot better then the stock carpet all mangled up cause of the sub box. It did take some time to fit the wood in. For the side pieces i cut them off and wrapped them individually.
