higher octane lets you advance your timing more.

SO...if you went back to 93, your very expensive 110 octane tune would probably end up pinging/knocking a LOT due to predetonation issues. If the difference between 87 and 91 causes a lot of knocking in a normal car, i would say 110 down to 93 would cause a lot of troubles. Increased tail pipe exhaust temperature, spark plug problems ....etc etc...

definitely true...and once that happens its just a matter of time before that motor blows....

I got it tuned on 91 octane, and the guy asked me right away what octane I used, he said this batch of 91 was stale, so basically it was like 87 or some gay shit. Because if gas sits for too long it get stale loses its octane or something. reason why he said it was stale is because our gas prices are so high out here, nobody buys 91 anymore so it just stills for so long.

he got a bunch of fuels sent in for testing. so i guess we will find out for sure.

im pretty sure it would. there is a huge difference between 110 and 93, but the bigger question is... is this being done on a n/a car or boosted car?

yes, cuz if its turbo then you can turn down the boost to make it a lil safer but will still be in danger of potential problems. if its n/a then you are screwed imo

but on 93 he still runs fine...

im sure he lowers the boost or something, i dont know exactly...

Squeak is right. Octane is simply a rating of the fuels' resistance to knock/detonation... It won't knock if you run higher octane on a lower tune. That's like saying that our base motors will knock if you run 93 in them. Tell me how many times you've heard of that happening.
