    I can't get stiff

Someone traded a 05 s2000 @ my job and I took it for a spin. It was hella stiffer than my ep3 and I wanted to have an as stiff suspension setup. I currently have s.techs on koni hps (blues) w/ motor mount inserts. I wanted to know the spring rates of the s.tech and of some other manufactures so I can get a more aggressive spring. I don't want to go coilover because I don't belive in getting coilovers and not corner weighting the vehicle. I also realize that the s2k have an overall stiffer chassis and it is RWD, but I wasn't throwing the car around I took it for a light spin and was impressed by its firmness. I would think I could get my ep to feel like a stock s2k.

sorry but i dont think you know anything about cars at all! haha there is no such thing has koni blue hp i think what you meant is tokico blues haha. and you really cant compare an ep3 to a s2000 cuz s2000 comes out stock riding like a go kart already.

ok haha I got the name wrong haha, I realize that the s2k is a great handling machine off of the showroom floor, but what I want to duplicate is the stiff suspension. I think If I move to a stiffer spring rate that would be half the battle.

First of all, what MY S2K did you drive? Was it the new CR model? Compared to my former EP3, my S2K's hardness/stiffness was nothing.

Get some custom spring rate Ground controls, talk to Mustclime, he had a pretty stiff set on his ep for a while (500 plus on the front, and 800 Plus on the back).

Stiff does not always mean a better car, you can in fact have a worst handling car.

Yeah, bouncing sideways on a bumpy corner is not fun.

your springs and dampers are both pretty soft. s-techs are one of the you softest aftermarket spring sets for the ep. those tokico blues wont do much good for an agressive spring either, as they arent much different than the oem struts. depending on what you want, i have different suggestions for you. you may need to get full coilovers to get the ride you are looking for. ground controls are great because you can make your own spring rates, they are paired very well with koni yellow dampers. only downside is you shouldn't drop the car much more than 1.5 inches without sending the shocks away to be shortened, as you may find yourself riding on the bumpstops. if you drive mostly on the street, you might find that megan racing coilovers are a good choice. if you like to track the car, or are planning to, you may want to get either gc with koni, buddy club racing spec (awesome!), or kw.

    some only have height adjustments.

others do have a knob-type adjustment to change settings on top of the strut.

This might sound crazy, but there are many different ways a car can "feel stiffer."

First I will say, stiffer springs and matched shocks will always give the car a stiffer ride.

Larger sway bars will give it a tighter feel when turning. (Changes steering)

Switching from rubber to stiffer polyurethane bushings will transfer "road feel" to the ride. Making the cars handling feel more precise.

Changing your wheels with, lighter rims and a low profile tire will cut down sidewall flex in turns. Or at the very least, just changing your tire pressure in the existing tires. (Try that first)

Like James said, you can ask Musty, IMO he's uncomprimising about performance. So first, you may want to decide how you use your car. (A stiff ride is sometimes a crappy DD.)

    Good luck to you.
    -Drew

PS. always keep your car cleaned out. Addtional sprung weight will make your car feel more comfortable, but that's it's ONLY advantage.

Here is another thread I put togather on spring rates for different coilover set ups...

    http://forums.clubep3.net/showthread.php?t=564642

I have also put togather an thread on sway bars.....

I am currently working on a thread that will explain the "ins and outs" of our suspension design......That should be up on clubep3.net by next week....
