That looks great! Do you have any shots of your headliner, I don't think I've seen pics of a red one?
I just could not bring myself to buy the JDM/UKDM/whatverDM $700 door panels. Not only that, it's simply red fabric that does not match the seats, carpet or other material in the car. I had to fina another way.
I went to my local Jo-Ann fabric. I purchased the material there to do my headliner, so, I figured I'd give them another shot. I found some red faux suede material and they gave me some samples. I walked out side and was amazed that one of them matched PERFECT to the JDM recaros.
It matches the color AND tecture perfectly. It was $22 a yard and I only needed one yard. It's usually on sale, but, you knlow how that goes when you need something.
Here's the link to those that don't have a Jo-Ann Fabric:

The reciept says part number #7954514 and is called Soane Claret.
I took it to a loacl shop called Auto Upholstry Inc. (910-483-4927)
He charged me $50 for both doors and it ended up like this:
Perfect, with no bleed through, he used no padding and it's very tight with no wrinkles.
And my favorite shot:
Not bad for $75....

The headliner is black. It's in my members ride thread.
Looks awesome!
Do you know if this fabric has UV protection? I've been looking around for some synthetic suede for upholstery and the cheapest I've found for fabric with UV protection is about $45/yd. Ultrasuede/Alcantara is like $100/yd. . I'd hate to reupholster my seats and have it fade later on.
I'm unaware of any UV protection on this.
The seats are OEM, so they are fine. The door pads are down lower on the door, so fading should'nt be much of an issue. I also have tinted windows, use sun shades religiously and park the car in the garage at all times.
The link I gave is $20 a yard and feels EXACTLY like the seats......
Thanks to everyone for the compliments.
Nice, I have a Jo-Ann Fabrics right next to my house. I'll check it out after work so I can get a DIY started on seat upholstering this weekend.
man you make some of the best write up's have you written up a DYI for the headliner i cant wait till im able to do the jdm interior light also thanks again for another good contribution to the forum.
those diy panels r the shit! good find on the material color..thinkin of doin this aswell..also wanna do a black headliner..bump 4 u
where is the shop located that did your install, I noticed the 910 area code. Great looking interior btw.
Thanks. I'm just trying to help rebuild this place like everyone else.
I did the headliner myself. Absolute nightmare. Took 8-10 hours to wrap the material and get no wrinkles. It killed me. You have to take the sunroof assembly out to get to the sliding panel.
Older pics, but you get the idea.
I'm located in Fayetteville, NC, right outside of Fort bragg. The shop is in downtown Fayetteville. I took them the door panels with the clips, handles, switches, everything removed to make it easier for them.
I dropped them off on a Thursday afternoon and picked them up Tuesday morning. It's a small local shop, but did GREAT work. I could'nt be happier.
Just bought some, they charge shipping and Tax, whores, i would just buy it my local joaan, but they dont carry it, whores
