    3rd gear problem again...

    hey guys...just wanna ask ...my 3rd gear wont go in gear at low rpm u guys know what da problem is ?? and eveytime im at 5000 rpm it grinds lik a mofo

    my friend had the same problem on his ep it would grind 3rd bad at high rpms he just took it to honda and they fixed it dont really kno what it had or if honda changed his trany i think its the trany so go get it checked up if u have the cash if not take second gear to5 rpms and switch to 4rth lol thats all i can think of

    That sucks. Does it grind even if you granny shift? Maybe a bad syncro...

    my friend has the same thing on his 4dr civic. fine dwn shifting, andup shifting before 5k. after 5k its grinds like a bastid.n yea could be a bad synchro...but gluck guy

    To me it sounds like bad synchros. Try changing your tranny fluid. You could try Synchro Mesh, RP, Honda, etc... (I'm not going to try to debate which one is best). Hopefully this would help and it won't be a costly fix in the long run. Besides, its always good to change your MTF! (Check out my DIY on how to do it)

    Also, your engine moves a lot during high RPMs, my theory is that the tranny shifts from its orginal spot causing the linkages to shift? (get it?) I could be wrong but this is what I imagine because when I put in my engine damper, I stopped grinding on hard shifts in high rpms and every shift is smooth now
